Recruit Holdings Lays Off 1,300 Employees Amid Restructuring Efforts

Recruit Holdings, the parent company of Indeed and Glassdoor, is undergoing significant changes as part of its restructuring efforts. The Japanese-based company announced it will be laying off approximately 1,300 employees across both companies’ US operations, affecting various divisions including R&D, tech, HR, and sustainability.

According to an internal memo, the job cuts represent around 6% of Recruit’s HR technology division. CEO Hisayuki “Deko” Idekoba stated that AI will play a crucial role in simplifying hiring processes by creating better experiences for both job seekers and employers.

The restructuring also includes the departure of Glassdoor’s current CEO, Christian Sutherland-Wong, on October 1. Indeed’s chief people and sustainability officer, LaFawn Davis, is also leaving the company as part of the changes.

As tech companies worldwide reassess their sustainability initiatives, Recruit Holdings’ move comes amid a broader trend of job cuts and restructuring efforts to balance AI integration costs. Other major companies such as Microsoft, TikTok, Match, Intel, and Meta are also undergoing significant layoffs.
