Apple’s upcoming MacBook Air M4 laptops are expected to arrive in early 2025, a year after the release of M3-powered models. The rumored laptops will retain the same design as current models, with the biggest difference being the M4 chip inside.
According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple will launch the MacBook Air M4 in Q1 2025, between January and March. This claim aligns with a previous report from display analyst Russ Young, who said display panel shipments for new 13- and 15-inch MacBook Airs would begin in October.
The M4 chip is expected to pack a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, and a Neural Engine that can hit 38 TOPS of AI performance. This chip is also rumored to be used in the iPad Pro M4 and MacBook Pro 14-inch M4.
While Apple hasn’t officially announced the MacBook Air M4 line, rumors suggest these laptops will deliver similar or slightly improved performance compared to their M3 counterparts. Battery life may also increase, potentially lasting around 16 hours, although this is still speculative.
As with any unconfirmed reports, take these rumors with a grain of skepticism until Apple makes an official announcement. However, given the popularity of the MacBook Air line and the usual pace of technology advancements, it’s likely we’ll see M4-powered MacBook Airs before the summer of 2025.
