ELO Frontman Jeff Lynne Pulls Out of BST Hyde Park Show Due to Illness

Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) frontman Jeff Lynne has cancelled his final performance at BST Hyde Park due to a “systemic infection”. The 77-year-old singer was set to headline the event on Sunday, but has been forced to withdraw from the festival alongside his band.

Lynne’s withdrawal was advised by doctors, who deemed it “not possible” for him to perform. Despite being heartbroken at missing the show, Lynne prioritized his health and will focus on rehabilitation instead.

The cancellation means that the entire Sunday event has been scrapped, with ticket holders to be refunded directly by their ticket agent. ELO was scheduled to perform alongside other artists, including Stevie Wonder, The Doobie Brothers, and Steve Winwood.

ELO formed in Birmingham in 1970 and first broke up in 1986 before Lynne revived the band in 2014. This was billed as a farewell tour, but it appears this will not go ahead as planned.
