Vice President JD Vance is expected to visit Orange County this weekend, but crowds gathered in Anaheim on Friday to express their opposition to his presence and the Trump administration’s immigration policy. The protesters, who were largely anti-immigration enforcement operations, blocked traffic near Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
The protest comes just one day after a major ICE raid at two farms in Ventura County resulted in over 200 people being detained, with one person reported dead and others injured. Local politicians, including Orange County Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento, have condemned the raids as “terrorizing residents” and “constitutional abuses.”
Sarmiento stated that he would be open to meeting with Vance if he was willing to discuss concerns about immigration enforcement. However, most protesters made it clear they did not want Vance in Anaheim.
Vance’s visit is seen as a significant development in the ongoing controversy over immigration policy. The Trump administration has faced widespread criticism for its handling of immigration issues, and protests like those in Anaheim are likely to continue until the issue is addressed.
