A California woman, identified only as Kay, has been receiving hundreds of unwanted Amazon packages at her doorstep for over a year after a Chinese seller listed her San Jose home as its return address. The packages were sent by Liusandedian, a China-based Amazon seller that sells low-quality faux leather car seat covers.
Kay initially thought the first package was a wrong delivery, but more boxes kept arriving until her stoop was buried in boxes. She filed at least six complaint tickets with Amazon but received little help, with the company suggesting she donate or ship the packages back to the senders.
Amazon has since apologized to Kay and is working directly with her to clear out the packages. The company has also taken steps to permanently resolve the issue and prevent similar errors in the future.
International sellers are required to follow Amazon’s rules for returns, which include listing a US address or providing pre-paid shipping labels. If they fail to comply within two days of a return request, Amazon can refund the buyer and bill the seller.
Kay’s experience highlights the importance of following these rules to prevent issues like this from occurring in the future.
