Gaza Aid Strike Kills 16, Including 10 Children

In a devastating strike on a health clinic in central Gaza, 16 people were killed, including 10 children and three women. Iman al-Nouri, the mother of five, lost her two sons and niece in the attack.

The incident occurred when many women and children were waiting to receive nutritional supplements at the Altayara health clinic. The strike happened at around 07:15, just as the clinic was opening. “They came with their guns and killed us,” Iman said.

Dr Mithqal Abutaha, a spokesperson for the US-based aid group Project Hope, which runs the clinic, described the incident as a “blatant violation of international humanitarian law.” He called on Israel to allow in enough food, medicine, and fuel to meet the basic humanitarian needs of everyone in Gaza.

The Israeli military claimed that it targeted a Hamas terrorist but acknowledged that civilians were harmed. Iman’s family had been relying on the clinic for nutritional supplements due to her husband’s risk of death while bringing food to their children.

The incident is part of a broader crisis in Gaza, where a total blockade has led to severe shortages of food, medicine, and fuel. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees reported that there are thousands of malnourished children across the territory, with more cases detected every day.
