Mavs Shut Down Rookie Star Cooper Flagg for Summer League

Dallas Mavericks coach Josh Broghamer has made a surprising move, shutting down rookie star Cooper Flagg for the remainder of the NBA summer league. The decision comes after just two games in Las Vegas.

Flagg’s impressive 31-point performance against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday was followed by a strong bounce-back game against the Los Angeles Lakers, where he scored 10 points despite struggling with his shot. The Mavericks are now resting Flagg to allow him to recover and adjust to his new environment.

“We want to see him be aggressive,” Flagg explained after Saturday’s loss. “I think I did that a lot better today, just getting to the line and getting comfortable.”

Broghamer praised Flagg for making smart plays off the ball during their last game. The 6-foot-9 rookie is expected to return strong when he resumes play in summer league action.
