Director of “Knives Out” reveals his cancelled trilogy was largely conceptual with no concrete plan.
Rian Johnson has shed light on his scrapped “Star Wars” trilogy in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. Johnson, who also directed “The Last Jedi,” had been developing ideas for the three-film saga alongside Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy. However, after “Knives Out” took off, Johnson’s focus shifted to the murder mystery blockbuster.
Johnson explained that his original project was “all very conceptual,” with no detailed outline or treatment in place. He expressed his affection for the “Star Wars” universe and its passionate fans, stating he would be sad if he never directed another film within the franchise. Despite the cancellation, Johnson remains open to revisiting the idea in the future.
