Bungie has announced the launch date for Destiny 2’s highly anticipated expansion, The Edge of Fate, which will begin on July 16, 2025. This new expansion marks the start of the Year of Prophecy and introduces a mysterious new planetoid called Kepler, where Guardians can unlock special abilities.
The Edge of Fate expands on existing gameplay with new abilities such as Matterspark, Relocator Cannon, and Mattermorph, which allow players to change shape, teleport, and morph their surroundings. The expansion also adds exotic missions, gear, and activities, including a new raid, The Desert Perpetual.
Gameplay Changes and Updates:
– Power Refresh: Everyone’s Power will be refreshed to start at 10 within the new band of 1-200 Power.
– Portal: A brand-new homepage that lets players find and select activities instantly, including new Solo Ops and 10-minute missions.
– Armor 3.0 System: Overhauls stats completely, introducing new set bonuses for pairing armor pieces together.
Preload and Launch Details:
A preload will be available on all platforms once Destiny 2 has been taken offline for maintenance at 6:00 AM PDT on July 15, 2025. Players can find the preload on various platforms by following these steps:
– PlayStation: Go to ‘Destiny 2’, ‘Options’, then ‘Check for Updates’.
– Xbox: Update 9.0.0.1 should be queued up automatically when Destiny 2 goes offline.
– Steam and Epic Games Store: Update 9.0.0.1 will also be queued up automatically.
