Noah Wyle, star and executive producer of HBO Max’s breakout hit “The Pitt”, has been nominated for lead actor in a drama series at the 2024 Emmy Awards. This marks his first Emmy nomination since 1999 for playing Dr. John Carter on NBC’s long-running medical drama “ER”.
Wyle will be competing alongside Sterling K. Brown, Pedro Pascal, Gary Oldman, and Adam Scott for the award. In an interview with The Times, Wyle expressed gratitude for the recognition, saying it feels more gratifying this time around due to his accumulated experience and perspective as a 53-year-old actor.
“The show is confronting issues changing in our world in real time, and you’re inhabiting someone behind the headlines, in the trenches, dealing with the realities of those issues,” Wyle said. He also discussed how the show’s portrayal of healthcare professionals tackles systemic challenges and the emotional toll on front-line workers during the pandemic.
Although co-star Tracy Ifeachor will not appear in Season 2 due to creative decisions, Wyle expressed appreciation for the support of his colleagues and plans to continue celebrating with his family before returning to work tomorrow.
