Teddy Bridgewater, a former NFL quarterback, has been suspended from his position as a high school football coach in Miami due to allegations of providing impermissible benefits to his players. The 32-year-old confirmed the suspension on Facebook but reiterated his commitment to his alma mater.
Bridgewater led Miami Northwestern to a state championship in his first season as coach in 2024, before returning to the NFL as Jared Goff’s backup with the Detroit Lions. However, he faced criticism for paying for Uber rides, meals, and recovery services for his players last season.
The Florida High School Athletic Association confirmed it is gathering more information about the allegations. Bridgewater has played for six NFL teams since 2014, compiling a 33-32 record and earning multiple Pro Bowl selections.
Despite the suspension, Bridgewater maintains he did nothing wrong and will continue to support Miami Northwestern. He expressed willingness to volunteer from the sidelines if needed.
