Nvidia’s highly anticipated N1x Arm-based CPU has hit a roadblock due to new hardware issues, forcing a delay in its debut to 2026. According to multiple industry sources, the problem may require significant changes to the chip’s design.
The company had initially claimed that the N1 and N1x chips were ready for full production, but recent reports suggest otherwise. A sample of the N1x chip was recently spotted on Geekbench, showing promising performance scores that could rival top mobile processors.
Despite this setback, Nvidia is committed to pushing forward with its Arm-based project. The company has gained significant resources in recent years and has partnered with several hardware manufacturers to develop the AI-powered chip.
Nvidia’s struggles with the N1 project echo those of its early days, when its graphics chips failed to gain traction and the company came close to bankruptcy. However, Nvidia rebounded with the successful launch of the RIVA 128 in the late 1990s.
The company is also exploring other opportunities for its Arm-based technology, including a gaming laptop partnership with Alienware and an affordable “AI PC” release. While customers are not yet demanding Arm-based laptops for gaming, Nvidia remains committed to promoting the architecture in the traditional PC market.
