NFL Star Rashee Rice Pleads Guilty in High-Speed Hit-and-Run Crash

NFL wide receiver Rashee Rice has pleaded guilty to two felony charges related to a high-speed hit-and-run crash that injured at least four people on a Dallas highway last year. Rice, 25, admitted to two third-degree felony charges, including a collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office said Rice was driving a 2020 Lamborghini Urus SUV during rush hour on Central Expressway when he made multiple aggressive maneuvers around traffic and collided with multiple vehicles. Prosecutors said Rice was driving at 119 mph just before the collision, took “faulty evasive action,” causing a chain reaction that affected several vehicles.

As part of his plea deal, Rice was sentenced to five years of deferred probation and will spend 30 days in jail. He also agreed to pay restitution to all victims for out-of-pocket medical expenses totaling $115,481.91.

Rice’s attorney, Sen. Royce West, said the incident “scared Rice straight” and that he’s aware someone could have been hurt more severely or even killed in the crash. The NFL is expected to impose a punishment on Rice, potentially including a multi-game suspension.

Rice released a statement apologizing for his actions and urging others to drive safely and follow the speed limit. Dallas County Criminal District Attorney John Creuzot commended Rice for taking accountability and using his platform to warn others about the dangers of street racing.
