Jax Taylor, star of Bravo’s The Valley, has announced he will be stepping away from the show following season 2. In an exclusive statement to Us Weekly, the 46-year-old revealed that his decision comes after a challenging year and honest conversations with his team and producers.
Taylor cited his focus on sobriety, mental health, and coparenting as reasons for taking a step back. He shares a 4-year-old son, Cruz, with ex-partner Brittany Cartwright, with whom he has been navigating challenges in their marriage since they tied the knot in 2019.
Last year, Taylor checked himself into a rehab facility to address his mental health struggles, and the show’s producers have maintained a commitment to telling the full story of the cast members’ lives. “Our job is to tell the story responsibly and fairly,” executive producer Alex Baskin said.
The Valley’s third season is yet to be confirmed, but Baskin hinted that it may look different, with no one guaranteed a return spot on the show. The producers prioritize creating an authentic viewing experience over forcing cast members together who wouldn’t naturally interact in real life.
The show airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo and can be streamed on Peacock.
