Leaked AMD APU Could Power PS6 or Next Xbox Console

AMD’s “Magnus” APU, allegedly codenamed for a future gaming console, may have 11 CPU cores and a 384-bit memory bus. This processor could be powering the PlayStation 6 (PS6) or the next Xbox console.

According to Moore’s Law is Dead, who posted about an unannounced AMD Zen 6 APU called “Magnus,” the processor has a wide graphics die and a higher memory bus than the Xbox Series X. The Magnus APU features three Zen 6 cores and eight Zen 6 cores, which is unusual.

The codenames for the PS6 and other upcoming consoles are also included in the leaked documents, suggesting that these chips might be designed specifically for gaming systems rather than laptops. Moore’s Law believes that this information points to a potential connection with the PS6 APU due to its design similarities and code names like Mero, which was initially intended for the Steam Deck’s APU.

However, AMD leaker Kepler_L2 disputes this claim, believing the Magnus APU could be designed for the next Xbox. Given Sony’s recent partnership announcement with AMD, as well as Microsoft’s ongoing development of the next Xbox, these rumors have some weight to them. But more information is needed before verifying their accuracy.
