Germany Deports Dozens of Afghans Back to Kabul Amid Taliban Deal

Germany has deported 81 Afghan citizens, including some with criminal convictions, back to Kabul as part of a Qatar-mediated deal with the Taliban. The move is seen as a response to recent terror attacks by rejected asylum seekers. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has vowed to get tougher on mass migration.

The deportation comes amid scrutiny over ex-Tory ministers’ use of a super-injunction to cover up data leaks revealing relocation of 15,000 Afghans in 2022. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated that Germany has “zero tolerance” for asylum seekers who commit crimes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to removing serious offenders from its borders.
