Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold Set for Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset

Samsung’s upcoming tri-fold phone, the Galaxy Z Trifold, is likely to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset as its standard processor, according to a string of code in Samsung beta software. The mention of ‘siop_q7mq_sm8750’ in One UI 8 internal beta points to the codename ‘q7mq’ being linked to the Galaxy Z Trifold and ‘sm8750’ being the model number of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

The use of Snapdragon 8 Elite is not surprising, as it’s currently the top chipset available for Android phones and has been used in Samsung’s high-end devices like the S25 series and the Z Fold 7. While it’s possible that Samsung could have chosen a more cost-effective option, the presence of this codename suggests that the company will opt for the best available chipset.

The mention of Snapdragon 8 Elite also implies that we can expect the Galaxy Z Trifold to launch soon, potentially in October. The phone may initially be available only in China and South Korea, but if it’s a hit, we can expect a wider release of its successor.
