YouTube personality Jon Prosser has been sued by Apple over leaked information about its upcoming operating system, iOS 26. In early 2024, Prosser shared videos showing off potential features of the new OS, including a redesigned Camera app and Messages app. The leaks were remarkably accurate, with some features matching those ultimately unveiled by Apple at WWDC in June.
However, it appears that Prosser obtained this information through unauthorized means. According to Apple, Prosser conspired with friend and Apple employee Michael Ramacciotti’s colleague, Ethan Lipnik, to access his development iPhone without permission. Lipnik allegedly used a FaceTime call to show off iOS 26 on the device, and Prosser recorded the call and shared it with others.
Apple claims that this breach of trust allowed unauthorized access to sensitive trade secrets, including confidential information about unreleased devices and software. The company is now seeking an injunction to prevent further disclosure of this information and damages for misappropriation.
Prosser has responded to the allegations on social media, claiming he was unaware of any plot to access Lipnik’s phone and stating that he looks forward to discussing the matter with Apple.
