Red Bull Sponsor Felix Baumgartner Dies in Paragliding Accident

Austrian adventurer Felix Baumgartner, known as “Fearless Felix,” who made headlines for his record-breaking skydive in 2012, has died in a paragliding accident along the Adriatic coast in Italy. He was 56. Baumgartner lost control of his glider and crashed to the ground near a swimming pool, possibly due to a medical issue during flight. An autopsy will be performed. Born on April 20, 1969, Baumgartner began skydiving as a teenager and later became a paratrooper in the Austrian military. He popularized the sport of BASE jumping and was a sought-after talk-show guest after his record-breaking jump from 24 miles above the earth in 2012.
