Ukraine to Boost Domestic Arms Production Amid Russian Invasion

Ukraine’s new government has approved plans to expand domestic arms production, aiming to meet half the country’s weapons needs within six months. The move is part of efforts to counter Russia’s ongoing invasion and improve the military’s response to aerial attacks.

The US Defense Department has informed Switzerland that it will divert a Patriot air defense system order to support Ukraine, which badly needs enhanced air defenses. However, details on how the Swiss-ordered Patriots will be used remain unclear.

As Russia presses forward with its summer offensive, Ukraine is under pressure to increase its military capabilities. The country already produces 40% of its own weapons, and the new government aims to reach a 50% ratio within six months.

Ukraine has developed its own long-range drones to strike deep inside Russian territory. However, Russia continues to launch attacks on Ukrainian cities with hundreds of drones and ballistic missiles.

The international community is providing support to Ukraine, including billions of dollars in aid from European countries. NATO leaders are coordinating military efforts and transferring Patriot systems to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, a deal between Ukraine and Russia has resulted in the exchange of 1,000 bodies, including some fallen Ukrainian soldiers.
