Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has announced the pricing of its high-end Threadripper Pro 9000 WX-Series CPUs, which start at $1,649 and top out at $11,699. The Zen 5-based processors are designed for professionals who require powerful applications such as rendering and AI.
While the price may be steep for average users, AMD is also expected to release more affordable Threadripper processors without the Pro designation. However, the company has yet to reveal their prices.
AMD’s stock was down 1.57% in pre-market trading on Friday but remains up 30.81% year-to-date and 5.83% over the past 12 months. Analysts have been updating their ratings and price targets for the company ahead of its earnings report in early August.
Several top analysts, including Bank of America’s Vivek Arya, Mizuho Securities’ Vijay Rakesh, Wells Fargo’s Aaron Rakers, and Bernstein’s Stacy Rasgon, have reaffirmed their Buy ratings with increased price targets. The consensus rating for AMD is Moderate Buy, with an average stock price target of $141.87.
