Acuna’s Epic Throw Ends Yankees’ Rally

Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. made a potential throw of the year in a 7-3 win over the New York Yankees on Friday night at Truist Park. With runners on first and second and one out, Acuna caught a sky-high fly ball hit by Cody Bellinger off starting pitcher Spencer Strider’s slider. As he fielded the ball, he turned and fired a rocket throw to third base that never hit the ground, snagging runner Jorbit Vivas for the final out of the inning.

The play was crucial in ending a potential Yankees rally, as Aaron Judge was set to bat with one swing potentially tying the game 3-3. Braves manager Brian Snitker praised Acuna’s throw, saying it’s “a weapon” in right field due to his strong and accurate arm.

Acuna explained that his throw came from anticipation, always trying to focus on anticipating plays before they happen. The Braves will look to build on the win when they face the Yankees again on Saturday night.
