NASA Announces ROSES-2025 Funding Opportunity for Space and Earth Science Research

NASA has announced the release of its annual omnibus solicitation for basic and applied research, Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Science (ROSES) 2025. The solicitation is open to organizations worldwide, including government agencies, private companies, and foreign institutions.

The ROSES program aims to support a wide range of scientific research and technology development in space and earth science areas supported by NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD). Program elements cover topics such as planetary science, astrophysics, Earth sciences, and more.

Proposals can be submitted for awards ranging from under $100,000 per year to over $1 million per year, with a typical period of performance lasting three years. However, some programs may allow longer periods or shorter ones.

Funding will be awarded through grants, cooperative agreements, or contracts, depending on the program element. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) can submit proposals for funding, while government labs and funded Co-Investigators from NGOs will receive inter- or intra-agency transfers as appropriate.

To increase chances of securing funding, proposers are encouraged to register with NSPIRES and Grants.gov at least 30 days prior to the proposal deadline. Electronic submission is required, and potential proposers are urged to familiarize themselves with the system’s structure before submitting their proposals.

Notices of intent to propose and step-1 proposals will be due by August 11, 2025, followed by full proposals by September 9, 2025, or later. For more information on ROSES 2025, visit https://solicitation.nasaprs.com/ROSES2025.

NASA’s Science Mission Directorate invites subject matter experts to volunteer as reviewers for the ROSES-2025 program. To learn about new program elements and updates, subscribers can register with SMD mailing lists or check the ROSES-2025 due date Google calendar.
