Meta Rejects EU’s AI Code of Practice Over Regulatory Concerns

Meta has declined to sign Europe’s new AI code of practice, stating that it imposes unnecessary regulatory burdens on artificial intelligence developers. According to Joel Kaplan, Meta’s head of global affairs, the guidelines introduced by the EU “introduce a number of legal uncertainties” and go beyond the scope of the AI Act, which aims to regulate the use of AI in Europe. The move is seen as a significant challenge to the EU’s efforts to establish a uniform framework for AI governance.
