Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has received a show of support from hundreds of veterans across the nation, who have signed a letter endorsing her as director of national intelligence under President-elect Donald Trump’s second administration.
More than 250 veterans, including retired Gen. Michael Flynn and former acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller, have signed the “American Veterans for Tulsi Gabbard” letter, praising Gabbard’s dedication to service, combat experience, and commitment to safeguarding the American people.
The letter highlights Gabbard’s 22 years of standing alongside fellow servicemembers, including during her time in the House, where she advocated for veterans’ health concerns. Nearly 70% of signatories worked in special operations and/or intelligence, and about 54% are retired service members who saw combat while in the military.
Trump nominated Gabbard just days after his election win over Democrat Vice President Harris, citing her “fearless spirit” and commitment to championing Constitutional Rights. The director of national intelligence plays a critical role in overseeing the National Intelligence Program and advising the president on security matters.
Gabbard has been open about her experience serving in combat zones and her opposition to creating new wars. She has also spoken out against Democrats’ policies, saying they “care so little for our democracy.”
