Angelina Jolie is set to star alongside Saoirse Ronan and Keanu Reeves at this year’s Toronto film festival, which will take place from September 4-14. The 50th edition of the festival promises a diverse lineup of films, including dramas, comedies, and true stories.
Jolie will reprise her role as Maria Callas in director Alice Winocour’s drama “Couture,” while Ronan stars in the comedy thriller “Bad Apples” alongside Reeves. The film follows a teacher who must take drastic measures to deal with an 11-year-old student.
Reeves will lead the sci-fi film “Good Fortune” by Aziz Ansari, which tells the story of a body swap between a poor and rich man. The festival also features directorial debuts from actors James McAvoy, Brian Cox, and Maude Apatow, daughter of Judd Apatow.
Other notable premieres include Christy, a biopic about female boxer Christy Martin starring Sydney Sweeney; Palestine 36, a historical drama set in the 1930s; and The Lost Bus, a survival thriller starring Matthew McConaughey.
The festival will also showcase documentaries such as Baz Luhrmann’s “EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert” and films about subjects like John Candy and Lilith Fair. With its diverse lineup of films, the Toronto film festival promises to be an exciting event for cinephiles and film enthusiasts alike.
