Warner Bros. Games has announced that support for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will cease in January 2025 with the release of Season 4’s Episode 8. This decision comes after the game received largely negative reviews and was a commercial failure, leading to a 41% decrease in revenue for Warner Bros. Games in Q2 2024.
Reviewer Nathan Birch gave the game a rating of 5 out of 10 at launch, citing its polished visuals, fluid traversal, and combat as highlights, but criticizing its repetitive mission design, empty live service elements, and mean-spirited storyline.
Despite initial criticism, Rocksteady has been working to improve the game with new content and updates. The latest update introduces Deathstroke as a playable character, along with new maps, firearms, and an Elseworld-inspired medieval environment. Additionally, offline mode is now available for players, allowing them to experience all content without internet connection.
However, fans of the Arkhamverse may be disappointed that the game’s promise of fighting against the Justice League was not fulfilled in a satisfying way. As such, they are advised to wait for discounts before purchasing the game. With the Steam Autumn sale recently concluded and another large discount likely on the horizon, now is a good time to consider picking up the game.
In related news, Rocksteady studio has been hit by layoffs and is reportedly working on a Director’s Cut of Hogwarts Legacy. A return to the Batman: Arkham franchise is also rumored, although it will take several years to develop.
