Jake Retzlaff Verbal Commitment to Tulane

Former BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff has verbally committed to transfer to Tulane University, sources confirm. The decision comes after he left BYU in July following a civil lawsuit accusing him of sexual assault and battery, which was dismissed on June 30. Retzlaff will enroll as a walk-on at Tulane and compete for the starting job in training camp.

Retzlaff had an impressive 2024 season with BYU, throwing for 2,947 yards and 20 touchdowns, helping the team earn an 11-2 record and a national ranking. The transfer also has ties to Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall, who previously recruited him during his time at Troy. With several other quarterbacks competing for the starting job, Retzlaff joins a roster with a strong football tradition.

The decision marks a new chapter for Retzlaff, who will be joining a school with a significant Jewish population. According to Hillel International, Tulane’s undergraduate population is 44% Jewish, making this a notable aspect of his transfer.
