The 50th Toronto International Film Festival is off to a big start with the announcement of its full Galas and Special Presentations section. The lineup includes world premieres of Aziz Ansari’s Lionsgate comedy Good Fortune, starring Keanu Reeves, alongside Seth Rogen; Maude Apatow’s feature directorial debut Poetic License; Isabel Coixet’s Three Goodbyes; James McAvoy’s California Schemin’, and more.
Keanu Reeves stars in Good Fortune, which follows a bumbling angel who meddles in the lives of a struggling gig worker (Ansari) and a wealthy venture capitalist (Seth Rogen). Poetic License, starring Method Man, Nico Parker, Andrew Barth Feldman, Cooper Hoffman, Maisy Stella, and Leslie Mann, explores a complex competition between two inseparable friends as they navigate adulthood.
Other notable films include Sony Pictures Classics’ Nuremberg, which chronicles the post-WWII trials against Nazi regime; Alice Winocour’s Couture, starring Jodie, about an American filmmaker on a life-and-death journey to Paris for Fashion Week; James Vanderbilt’s Nuremberg, about the true story of Douglas Kelley and Hermann Göring; and Yeon Sang-ho’s The Ugly, about a man investigating his long-lost mother’s death.
TIFF also announced its 2025 Galas and Special Presentations lineup, featuring world premieres of films like Driver’s Ed, Eleanor the Great, and Swiped. The festival takes place from September 4-14, showcasing a diverse range of films from over 30 countries.
