Gaza Violence Leaves at Least 73 Dead, Hundreds Injured

At least 73 people were killed and around 150 injured by Israeli gunfire in Gaza while seeking aid on Sunday, according to the Palestinian health ministry. The majority of deaths occurred in northern Gaza, with six others reported in Khan Younis.

The Israel Defense Forces claimed troops fired warning shots after identifying a gathering of thousands of Gazans in the northern Gaza Strip. However, details about the incident are still unclear, and no casualty figures were disclosed by the military.

A 25-truck convoy carrying vital food assistance crossed the Zikim border on Sunday morning but was attacked by Israeli tanks, snipers, and other gunfire before reaching its destination. The World Food Programme warned that shooting near humanitarian missions must stop immediately.

Residents in several areas of northern Gaza received warnings from the IDF to stay away due to active combat zones. Medical aid organizations reported significant casualties and hospital overcrowding amidst the escalating violence.
