US President Donald Trump was “caught off guard” by Israel’s military strike in Syria, according to a White House statement. The strike, which reportedly targeted Iranian forces in the country, caught Trump off balance, despite his good working relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump and Netanyahu have maintained frequent communication, but the US president was still surprised by the bombing in Syria, as well as another attack on a Catholic church in Gaza. These incidents raise concerns about Netanyahu’s increasingly aggressive military tactics.
