Microsoft has announced a new version of its Surface Laptop, the Surface Laptop 5G, designed specifically for businesses. The laptop starts shipping on August 26th and begins at $1,799.99. Powered by Intel’s Core Ultra Series 2 processors, it comes with an NPU that enables Microsoft’s Copilot Plus AI features.
The Surface Laptop 5G has made some internal changes to accommodate a 5G modem and support for physical nano SIMs on the side of the laptop or eSIMs. Two models will be available: the base model at $1,799, featuring an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, 16GB RAM, and 256GB storage, and the top-of-the-range model at $2,699, with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 32GB RAM, and 1TB storage.
A custom antenna system allows reliable 5G performance while maintaining portability and design. Microsoft has tested its 5G hardware with over 100 mobile operators across 50-plus countries. The laptop provides always-on connectivity and can act as a 5G mobile hotspot to share its connection with devices.
The Surface Laptop 5G is primarily designed for businesses, which will also have access to the latest Surface Laptop 13-inch and Surface Pro 12-inch models starting today.
