Carson Beck Joins Miami Hurricanes After Georgia Transfer

Carson Beck, a former Georgia quarterback, has transferred to the University of Miami Hurricanes. The transfer came after an injury to his right elbow in December’s SEC Championship Game forced him to reconsider his plans.

Beck initially planned to stay at Georgia only for the NFL Draft but eventually decided to leave due to the five-year mark being too long. He stated that he was “very difficult” to leave, but the NFL wasn’t the right option. The injury to his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) made it clear that a transfer was necessary.

Beck expressed his initial discomfort with returning to action after the injury and described one of his last plays for Georgia as a memorable moment. However, he was quickly impressed by the culture at Miami, particularly coach Mario Cristobal’s demeanor and the staff’s trust in him.

Cristobal praised Beck’s football IQ, competitiveness, and work ethic, stating that he is “a team player” who can make good decisions on the field. Beck also acknowledged the opportunity to study the playbook like a coach while recovering from his injury, which may have boosted his development.

When fully cleared to throw again in April, Beck still felt tentative due to a past injury during a workout. However, after successfully throwing a football without issue, he regained confidence and believes it has significantly improved his performance.

Beck is now looking forward to the opportunity at Miami to earn the trust of coach Shannon Dawson and contribute to the team’s success.
