Heisman Trophy Finalists Announced for 2024 Season

The 2024 Heisman Trophy finalists have been announced, with two frontrunners emerging as favorites to win the award. Colorado’s Travis Hunter is considered the heavy favorite due to his versatility on both offense and defense. The two-way star played full-time on both sides of the ball, finishing in the top five in receptions, receiving yards, and passes defended.

Hunter’s impressive stats include 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 receiving touchdowns over 12 games. On defense, he recorded four interceptions and 32 combined tackles. Pro Football Focus also gave him a top coverage grade this season.

Not to be outdone, Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty is making a strong case with his dominant performance on the ground. He led the Broncos to a Mountain West Conference title and earned a bye in the College Football Playoff as the No. 3 seed. Jeanty set multiple records, including college football’s all-time rushing yards and touchdowns.

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel rounds out the finalist group, having thrown for 3,558 passing yards and 28 passing touchdowns over his 297 attempts this season. Meanwhile, Miami’s Cam Ward is also in contention, known for his calm and collected demeanor in the pocket, which has led to numerous come-from-behind victories.

The Heisman Trophy winner will be determined by a vote of sports media members and past winners. The announcement caps off an exciting college football season that saw several top programs compete for national titles.
