Vingegaard Smashes Mont Ventoux Record with Dominant Climb

The third week of the Tour de France kicked off with a thrilling mountain stage, as Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogačar engaged in a fierce battle on the infamous Mont Ventoux. The UAE Emirates team struggled to control the breakaway, allowing a large group of riders to sprint for victory.

Pogačar, despite being unable to secure a stage win, delivered an exceptional performance, outpacing his rivals with a time of 54:32 minutes. Vingegaard countered with a record-breaking effort, completing the climb in 54:44 minutes and averaging an impressive 6.52 watts per kilogram.

The Mont Ventoux record was previously held by Iban Mayo, who achieved it in 2004, but Vingegaard’s performance surpassed even that mark. Primož Roglič also impressed with a high-level effort on the easy road stage, finishing close to Lipowitz.

Notably, the exact times and calculations for Stage 13 ITT results remain unclear, sparking speculation about potential biases or inaccuracies in reporting. However, it appears the riders’ performances are indeed as impressive as claimed, with Pogačar’s setup and technique playing a significant role in his success.
