US President Donald Trump has expressed his desire for Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s companies to “thrive” in the US, just weeks after suggesting that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) could investigate him.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that he wants all businesses in the country to succeed and grow. He argued that the more successful they become, the better the US economy will be.
This statement comes despite a public feud between Trump and Musk over government subsidies for electric vehicles. In early July, Trump mentioned DOGE as an option to investigate Musk due to his receipt of large-scale subsidies from the US government.
However, in his latest post, Trump emphasized that he wants businesses like Tesla’s to “thrive” rather than face investigations or restrictions. His tone suggests a shift away from criticism towards support for Musk and his companies.
Trump previously signed congressional resolutions in June aimed at eliminating California’s restrictive rules on diesel engines and electric vehicle sales.
