The National Football League (NFL) has identified over 100 players who allegedly sold their allotted tickets to this year’s Super Bowl LIX above face value, violating league policies. According to sources, these players will be fined 1½ times the face ticket value and lose their allotted tickets for the next two Super Bowls. Some have already accepted fines to avoid missing games.
An investigation revealed that a small number of “bundlers” worked with a ticket reseller, selling tickets at inflated prices on secondary sites ranging from $2,588 to over $10,000. Players and employees directly involved will face increased penalties.
The NFL memo states that this policy prohibits league or club employees, including players, from selling tickets acquired from their employer for more than the face value. The league plans to enhance mandatory training before Super Bowl LX to emphasize the rules and prevent fans from being exploited.
