Actor Michael Ward Charged with Rape and Sexual Assault in UK

British actor Michael Ward, known for his roles in “Top Boy” and Ari Aster’s film “Eddington,” has been charged with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault following an investigation into an alleged incident in January 2023. The Metropolitan Police announced the charges on Friday, but did not provide details about the incident.

Ward, 28, was born in Jamaica and won a BAFTA award for his rising star status in 2020. He is due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court in London on August 28.

The police are supporting the woman who made the allegations, saying that investigations of this nature can have a significant impact on those who report them.

Resources for survivors of sexual assault are available through organizations such as RAINN’s National Sexual Assault Hotline. If you or someone you know is affected, call (800) 656-HOPE or visit online.rainn.org to speak with a trained support specialist.
