DuPage County Reports First Human West Nile Virus Case

DuPage County has confirmed its first human case of West Nile Virus this season. A resident in their 50s from Glen Ellyn fell ill earlier this month, according to health officials. This case comes as mosquitoes in the county tested positive for the virus.

Typically, only one in five people infected with West Nile Virus experience symptoms, which can include fever, headache, body aches, vomiting, or a rash. To minimize the risk of infection, residents are advised to wear insect repellent and remove standing water from their properties. Mosquitoes are most active during dusk and dawn.

It is essential to take precautions against mosquito-borne illnesses like West Nile Virus. By following these simple steps, individuals can reduce their chances of getting infected.
