Microsoft Extends Free Update Offer for Windows 10 Users

Microsoft has extended its offer to give Windows 10 users a free 12-month security update extension, postponing the issue that affected over 700 million users.

The company claims to have made changes to improve stability and reliability in Windows 11. According to Microsoft, the latest update has reduced failure rates for unexpected restarts by 24%, compared to previous releases.

However, the transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11 is still a concern. To address this, Microsoft has introduced a new PC-to-PC migration tool, which allows users to easily transfer their files and settings to a new device.

The update also brings changes to the Blue Screen of Death screen, making it darker and less distracting. The company claims that this change will improve user experience and reduce restore time from 40 seconds to just 2 seconds.

Microsoft is promoting Windows 11 as the faster, safer option, but acknowledges that users may need time to transition. With the new migration tool and improved stability, Microsoft hopes to encourage more users to switch to Windows 11 before October, when standard Windows 10 updates end.
