AI Tool Flags Hidden Heart Problems in ECGs

Heart disease can be a silent killer, with deadly types like structural heart disease (SHD) often creeping in without warning signs. Now, a new artificial intelligence tool called EchoNext is changing the game by flagging hidden heart problems that even trained cardiologists miss.

EchoNext analyzes standard five-minute ECGs and can identify structural heart defects, including those present at birth or developed over time. Unlike traditional methods, which often rely on human expertise, EchoNext uses machine learning to detect subtle warning signs that may be missed during a routine screening.

Researchers trained EchoNext on over 1.2 million patient data pairs, resulting in remarkable accuracy. The tool outperformed human cardiologists, correctly flagging 77% of SHD cases from ECGs. In tests on nearly 85,000 people, EchoNext identified over 7,500 individuals at high risk for undiagnosed SHD.

This breakthrough could save thousands of lives by providing an early warning system for doctors to catch heart problems before they become fatal. With EchoNext, you can take control of your heart health even if you feel fine, as AI-powered tools make it easier to detect risks early.
