OpenAI is preparing to launch its next-generation GPT-5 language model, with an expected release date now as early as this month. The company has been testing the technology and making updates before its launch.
According to CEO Sam Altman, GPT-5 will be a significant improvement over previous models, featuring integrated reasoning capabilities known as o3. This allows for faster and more accurate processing of complex questions.
Altman recently showcased GPT-5’s capabilities in a podcast interview, where it answered a question he had struggled with himself. The model’s instant response left Altman feeling “useless relative to the AI.”
GPT-5 will come in mini and nano versions, available through OpenAI’s API. However, the company did not respond to requests for comment on its launch date or additional details.
