Bengals pass rusher Shemar Stewart has signed his rookie contract, ending a lengthy stalemate in negotiations. Stewart expressed relief at having the deal finalized and being able to get back on the field.
The contract was reached after both sides compromised, with Stewart agreeing to waive language that could have voided his future guarantees in exchange for increased signing bonus payout. This revised agreement includes an additional $500,000 payment from Stewart’s initial signing bonus.
Stewart praised the team, saying Coach Zac Taylor made him feel welcome and valued during the signing process. He is now excited to join training camp this week and make a positive impact on the team.
“I’ve been dreaming about being here,” Stewart said. “I’m ready to work hard and prove myself.”
