The duo revealed that filming the first episode of Season 8 took place in Prague. “It’s been out there that we are doing something special for our Season 8 premiere,” said Hawley. Fillion added that the team wanted to start with a bang, describing it as an exciting and cinematic experience similar to James Bond film Casino Royale.
The creators also discussed their approach to writing for the show, aiming to balance different episode styles and keep characters grounded amidst the high-stakes world of law enforcement. “We love our characters,” said Hawley, emphasizing that they aim to root them in reality while still delivering exciting storylines.
Fans will have to wait until 2026 for more details on Season 8, but Fillion hinted at a possible crossover with another popular show. When asked about the possibility of a crossover with 9-1-1, he jokingly replied, “Let’s Grey’s Anatomy this b**ch.” Hawley shared that they love their characters and want to continue exploring their storylines while keeping them relatable.
