Samsung has launched three new Galaxy Watches, but I chose to go for the original Galaxy Watch Ultra instead of the newer models. My old Galaxy Watch 4 was struggling with swipes and app updates, and its GPS accuracy left much to be desired.
I needed a smartwatch that offered faster performance, cellular connectivity, and more accurate GPS. After researching the Exynos W1000 chip, I shortlisted four options: the Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch 8, and Galaxy Watch Ultra. While all had the feature I wanted, the Watch 7’s GPS accuracy was not as good as the Watch 8.
The Galaxy Watch 8 is priced at INR 39,999 (~$463) for its 44mm LTE version. However, the newer Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) with double the storage is more affordable at just INR 33,499 (~$387). I opted for the latter as it has all the features I needed and enough storage space.
My experience so far with the Galaxy Watch Ultra has been smooth, thanks to its brighter display and improved performance. The device arrived on Friday, and I’ve installed a screen protector and updated my watch OS to One UI 8. I’ll be using it for another week before sharing the full switching experience from my four-year-old Galaxy Watch 4.
I’m excited to see how this upgrade improves my fitness tracking and overall smartwatch experience.
