James Cameron has officially released the action-packed trailer for his next Avatar fantasy epic, Avatar: Fire & Ash. The film is set to return to Pandora and introduce two new tribes: the Wind Traders and the fire-hurling Ash People clan.
The trailer showcases intense aerial battles between Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and his Na’vi family against the Ash People clan. Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang), now sporting dramatic warpaint, is also back and seems to have formed an alliance with the Ash People. A new villain, Varang (Oona Chaplin), threatens Kiri (Sigourney Weaver), while Sully warns Neytiri of their dire situation.
Avatar: Fire & Ash follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, The Way of Water, which became the third-highest-grossing film of all time upon release. Cameron plans to direct five Avatar films and has already shot much of the footage for this installment, set to arrive on December 19, 2024.
The film will explore themes of grief and a new moral focus as Jake and Neytiri’s family grapples with the loss of their son Neteyam. With an all-star cast, including Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Jack Champion, and Kate Winslet, Avatar: Fire & Ash promises to be a visually stunning and epic conclusion to the franchise.
