SpaceX successfully launched its Starlink 17-2 mission on Saturday night, deploying 24 new satellites into low Earth orbit. The Falcon 9 rocket, carrying the booster B1075, took off from Vandenberg Space Force Base at 9:31 p.m. PDT and landed nearly 8.5 minutes later on the droneship “Of Course I Still Love You” in the Pacific Ocean.
This was the 19th trip to space for the Falcon 9 first stage booster, which has now completed its 142nd landing. The mission marks an important milestone as SpaceX prepares for its third and final astronaut mission of the year, set to launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on Thursday.
The Starlink satellites will be deployed into a polar orbit to provide internet connectivity in the world’s polar regions. With this launch, SpaceX continues to expand its satellite constellation, aiming to bring high-speed internet access to remote communities around the globe.
