Nature’s Bakery Opens Massive $240M Utah Facility Creating Jobs

Salt Lake City is set to welcome a new massive facility from Nature’s Bakery, a subsidiary of Mars, Inc., as part of its $2 billion U.S. manufacturing investment plan through 2026. The $240 million facility will produce nearly 1 billion snack bars annually and create over 230 new jobs in Utah.

Located at 2331 N. 2200 West, the 339,000-square-foot facility is a significant milestone for Nature’s Bakery, allowing it to meet growing consumer demand for healthier snacks. CEO Steve Gardiner described the expansion as “a thrilling” opportunity to drive capacity and expand the brand’s reach.

City officials praised the investment, saying it could give a boost to the local economy. This latest move from Mars comes after acquiring Utah-based Trü Frü in 2022, with plans to further develop its healthier snack offerings. The company has already made significant investments in U.S. manufacturing over the past five years, totaling $6 billion.

As part of its investment plan, Mars also recently opened a new $450 million Royal Canin dry pet food facility in Ohio, marking another major commitment to U.S. manufacturing through 2026.
