JetBrains, creator of the popular Kotlin programming language, is developing a new programming language aimed at making AI and code more controllable and transparent. The language will allow developers to describe programs at a higher level of abstraction, essentially outlining the “ontology” and object-oriented architecture.
According to JetBrains CEO Kirill Skrygan, this new language should be easy to read and write in English, with optional semantics and abstract paragraphs. It would enable developers to create cross-platform applications that work seamlessly on iPhone, Android, the web, and other platforms without writing separate code for each one.
AI agents, along with JetBrains’ tooling, will then generate the code needed for these platforms. This approach promises to make AI code generation more controllable, transparent, and useful. However, a timeline for general availability has not been announced yet.
