United Flight Attendants Reject 26% Pay Raise Contract

United Airlines flight attendants union has rejected a new contract with an immediate 26.9% pay raise and cumulative increases up to 45.6% over five years. The tentative agreement was met with strong opposition from the union, with 71% of members voting against ratification. Union president Ken Diaz stated that the rejection sends a message to management about addressing the hard work and sacrifices made by flight attendants.

The group has been negotiating with United since 2021 and has not received a pay raise since 2020. In May, they reached an “industry-leading” tentative labor deal with significant economic improvements. However, flight attendants continue to push for higher wages and better working conditions. Labor and fuel costs account for over 32% of United’s expenses, making salaries and related spending a major concern.

The rejection marks another setback in the ongoing negotiations between United and its flight attendant union. The airline remains focused on securing a contract that addresses the hard work and dedication of its employees.
